Katja Herbers is the daughter of Vera Beths who plays the violin, and Werner Herbers on oboe. She spent much of her time with her mother in America as a child, as they traveled around the world. She was introduced to theater by her mother, cellist Anner Brylsma and her father Leonie P Olak. She had a Canadian au pair, and she learned to speak Dutch German and English growing as a young.
